Today we were talking about the three concepts of force, mass, and inertia. He explained force by doing a activity with Manuel and Maddy where Manuel pushed Maddy causing her to accelerate which exerted a force on Maddy. He explained mass by comparing a normal shoe to a giant cardboard check. The show had more mass even though it was smaller in size. The way he explained inertia was that the object with more mass means more inertia. He also had us go onto google to search up Newton's first law and wanted us to post the website and an explanation of what we have found.
Newton's first law: every body continues in its state of rest, or of motion in a straight line at constant speed, unless it is compelled to change that state by a net force exerted upon it. also known as the law of inertia.
In my search through google a found a powerpoint giving an example of Newton's first law.
It explains that when an object is left alone it maintains a constant velocity. In the example it shows a box at rest.
When it has constant speed its uniform motion is no friction.
It explains that every object in the state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it.
On the above website you can find many things about Newtons laws. One of the most important one is Newtons first law. Newtons first law states that when an object is left alone it maintains a constant velocity. V =0. Meaning that an object at rest remains at rest and an object in motion remains in motion at constant speed and in a straight line unless acted on by an unbalanced force.
on the website above you can find about newtons first law. Newtons First law-every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it. *the object at rest velocity=0
This presentation shows clips of experiments using Newtons first law. They show how force is tied into his law. It shows that zero force=zero acceleration and that zero acceleration= constant velocity. it compares newtons law with that of others like Aristole and Galileo.
*Newton's first law: If no force acts on a body, then it travels in a straight line at constant speed. ie its velocity is constant and its acceleration is zero.
http://id.mind.net/~zona/mstm/physics/mechanics/forces/newton/newtonLaw1.html This tells you how Newton's first law occurs. It also explains to you under which conditions they occur. It tells you, how the first law deals with forces and changes in velocity. It explains how if an object is moving along untouched by a force of any kind, it will continue moving along in a perfectly straight line at a constant speed. (Includes a demonstration as well.)
Today Mr.Lane asked us to go on the internet and find an interactive website that talks or deals with newtons first law. Heres what i found
Newton's first law: Any object that remains in motion or speed, will stay like that until acted upon by an unbalanced force.
The website was'nt that interactive all it was, was a definition chart that if you clicked on one of the words on it, it would give you its definition. I think its pretty helpful some of the other definitions on the site include:
Newton's 2nd law:Acceleration depends on net force and mass Newton's 3rd law:If an object exerts an unbalanced force, there will be an equal and opposite reaction force Inertia:The tendency to resist change in motion Friction:The force that occurs when 2 objects rub against each other Momentum:The force that occurs when mass is multiplied with velocity
Newton's 1st Law: is an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalance force. For example a brick wall stays in place if its left alone but if a car drives up and smashes against it, it will be knocked down.
In this presentation it shows every object at a state n rest. it remains in that state until an external force is added. how an apple is at uniform rest and then when you put an external force it will have motion. The apple doesn't move until you apply force to it. Both the apple and the worm have the same speed. Know you stop the apple but the worm keeps on going. Inertia is at work because the worm keeps on going. The worm will remain in motion until it acts by an external force. The external mass is the wall. Know the worm has crashed.
Newton's First Law of Motion describes what happens in the absence of a Net force. In the absence of a Net force,an object will continue with its present velocity. When F net=0, a moving object will continue moving with a constant velocity (implies a line). When F net=0, an object at rest will remain at rest. V=0 Newton's First Law is also called "The Law of Inertia." Inertia is the property of matter that causes it to maintain its present velocity when the net force on the object is zero. inertia is directly measured as mass. The more mass something gas the more inertia it has. Inertia can be thought of as "attitude". The more mass something has the more difficult it is to change its "mind". No Fore is required to have motion because the natural state of motion for an object is to continue with the velocity it has. However, friction often makes it seem as though a force is needed to maintain motion.
I am married to Dr. Brandi Lane I have one sone R.J. and another son due in febrary. His name will be Elijah Craig Lane. i grew up in Clovis, CA. I went to high school in Girard, KS. I went to colege at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA. I have taught in Corcoran for six years.
